Alice Myra Vanhanja

Manchester - Alice M. Vanhanja, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center with her husband by her side.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 3) at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home, 19 N. Main Street, Manchester, NY. Alice's burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 4) at Pioneers Cemetery, Dewey Road, Manchester, NY.

Alice was born the daughter of the late Austin and Irene (Crawford) Serth on Friday, February 11, 1944, in Rochester, NY. Alice grew up in the Rochester area, graduating from High School in Greece, NY. She became a legal secretary, working for law firms in Rochester, and was a clerk for a judge before her retirement. Alice enjoyed watching old movies and keeping her mind sharp by doing bookwork at home. Most of all, she loved to travel throughout Europe with her husband.

Alice will be remembered by her loving husband of 45 years, John P. Vanhanja; her special friends Annie, Hannelore, and Cathy; many nieces and nephews.
