John A Wheeler "Jack"
John Arthur Wheeler, 75, of Keuka Park, NY, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday April 16, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Born on April 9, 1949, in Watertown, NY, John "Jack" was the son of the late Clinton Wheeler and Val Tudi.
After graduation from New Berlin Central School, John worked in various financial positions until he eventually formed his own private accounting practice, earned his Enrolled Agent certification, and served his clients for over 30 years from his home in New Berlin, NY. In 2005, looking for a new adventure in retirement, he purchased Basin Park Marina, LLC on Keuka Lake, which he continued to operate and expand until his death.
An active community member, he was a member of the Masons and Past Master of Phoebus Lodge No. 82 in New Berlin, served on the New Berlin Village Board, periodically filling the role of Deputy Mayor, and most recently, served on the Town of Jerusalem Planning Board.
John was an artist and creator at heart. He used those talents to build two businesses, two homes, and an environment around him that was enjoyable and fun for everyone. With an infectious smile and a quick wit, he could entertain family and friends for hours on end.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, son, Brandon (Lisa) Wheeler, daughter Jill (Ryan Janson) Wheeler, grandchildren, Blake and Brynn Wheeler, stepfather, Ned Tudi, stepbrothers, Scott Whitehead, Jeffrey (Holley) Whitehead, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Dianne Tasior, and brother, Randall Wheeler.
A memorial service will be held on May 3rd, at 11:00AM in White Haven Memorial Park All Season's Chapel, 210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534. Memorial donations may be made to UR Medicine Hospice Ontario and Yates Counties, 756 Pre Emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456.
