Marjory Ruth Peters
Shortsville - Ruth Peters, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born on July 7, 1930, in Canandaigua, NY, as the daughter of the late Roscoe and Marion S. (Rice) Crowell. Throughout her life, she remained rooted in the Shortsville-Manchester area, graduating as the valedictorian of the class of 1948. Ruth's nurturing spirit defined her existence; she devoted herself to caring for others and her family, from her parents to raising her children. Her home became a sanctuary for extended family gatherings, where she graciously hosted dinners and lively pool parties. Tennis remained a passion for Ruth well into her eighties, often enjoyed with her close friend Shirley, alongside spirited games of Euchre and cherished moments with loved ones. Known for her thoughtful and witty poetry, Ruth delighted in crafting heartfelt verses for her family's birthdays and anniversaries. She also had an unwavering love for the Yankees, cheering for them watching their games. Ruth adored her cats and dogs, especially Goldie and Pretty Girl. A steadfast member of the First Baptist Church of Manchester, Ruth dedicated her time to volunteering, particularly in organizing transportation for the F.I.S.H. service.
