Shortsville - Mark Alan Pappert, 85, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home, 19 North Main Street, Manchester, NY 14504. There will be a celebration of life immediately following visitation at Molly Moochers, 19 West Main Street, Shortsville, NY 14548.

Mark, born on a Friday, December 24, 1937, in Manchester, NY, was the son of the late George L. and Dorothy (MacCumber) Pappert. His life was rooted in the Manchester/Shortsville area, and he graduated from Red Jacket Central School in the class of 1955. In the mid-1970s, Mark began his career as an Inspector at Victor Insulators, where he dedicated his work until his retirement in 1997.

Embracing his "retirement job" as a Red Jacket crossing guard, Mark found immense joy in this role for several years, once even heroically saving a young boy's life. His passion extended to coaching in little league and Vince Lombardi football. Renowned for his enthusiasm, Mark was honored with induction into the Red Jacket Hall of Fame in 2008, recognized as the "Greatest Fan."

An unwavering supporter, Mark cherished Red Jacket Sports, alongside his fervent allegiance to the Red Sox, Dallas Cowboys, and Syracuse University teams.

Mark will be remembered by his children Doug Pappert, David Pappert, Vonda Haynes Palmer, Ted Pappert and Sheila (Justin Loeb) LeGault; his grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan Palmer, Sully Pappert, Ethan Colf, Jarrett and Hanna LeGault and Joey Loeb; his brother, Donald Pappert; a sister-in-law, Betty Pappert; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Mark was predeceased by his siblings, Lorraine Procko, Art Pappert, Jean Warner and Gary Pappert.
