Stuart (Stu) Gwilt
Shortsville, New York - Stuart (Stu) Allen Gwilt, age 90, born June 13, 1933, passed away on September 12, 2023.
Stu was born in South Onondaga, NY. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Lucy Angeline Gwilt; his daughters, Caroline Gwilt, Margaret (Robert, MD) Lorenzetti and Nancy (Tim) Munn; son, Stuart (Christine) Gwilt; sisters, Charlene (Dick) Pierce and Sharon (Roger) Cramer; sisters-in-law, Florence Angeline and Joanne Angeline Toscano; six grandchildren, Scott (Ally) Walker, Elizabeth, Matthew, and Abby Gwilt, Daniel Munn, Emily Lorenzetti; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Stu was predeceased by his parents Leon and Margaret Gwilt; his parents-in-law, Frank and Caroline Angeline; brother, David Gwilt; brothers-in-law, Pat and Fred Angeline, Lt. Commander Harry Gee; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou, Pauline, and Boots Angeline and Louise Gee.
Stu graduated in the first class from Red Jacket Central and was an Army Veteran (Staff Sergeant) serving in the Korean War. He was a manufacturing & quality control engineer.
He spent his life volunteering and providing care for others, and found great enjoyment and fulfillment in his life of service:

Chairman of the Manchester-Shortsville Joint Sewer Department for over 10 years
Citizens Hose Fire Department for 69 years
American Legion Member for 69 years
Twin Cities Lion Club Member for many years
Member of the Red Jacket Sports Hall of Fame Committee

The family would like to thank the UR Medicine (Ontario County) Hospice for all their support, especially the home healthcare workers that helped Stu in his final weeks.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home, 19 North Main Street, Manchester from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Stu's memorial mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at St Dominic Church, 97 West Main Street, Shortsville, NY. Burial in St. Rose Cemetery with full military honors.
